This CQI/IRCA approved problem solving management training course will provide practical skills development of the fundamental tools, techniques and structured methodologies for problem solving. Learners will leave the course with the capability to lead a problem-solving team in the application of the key tools within a small scope business problem or task, and to lead the development of robust and sustainable solutions.

Prerequisites

Whilst there are no formal requirements, it is recommended learners attend FD102: Introduction to Problem Solving prior to taking this course.

Problem Solving Management Training Course Outcomes

You will have the knowledge to:

  • Ensure that problems and potential solutions are assessed from a customer/stakeholder point of view
  • Ensure that solutions are embedded through robust process management
  • Ensure that risk management is part of problem-solving activities
  • Lead improvement teams in gathering insight on customer/stakeholder needs, developing appropriate measures and using appropriate tools for fact-based decision-making
  • Lead the selection of the most appropriate improvement tools and techniques for the problem-solving activity
  • Ensure that knowledge of all appropriate legal, regulatory, societal and standard-related requirements is included in problem-solving activities as required
  • Be a fact-based thinker and quality coach

You will learn the skills to:

  • State where in the key problem-solving methodologies risk must be assessed, included and considered
  • List key tools and techniques to assess and mitigate risk in the initial stages of problem understanding and the deployment of solutions, including but not limited to risk matrix, FMEA, PDPC and mistake proofing
  • Lead a team to develop a root cause analysis using but not limited to cause and effect diagrams and 5 Why analysis
  • Lead a team to generate ideas for solutions using idea generation techniques including but not limited to silent idea generation and structured idea generation
  • ead a team to select solutions using tools like selection matrices
  • Apply PDCA thinking in order to effectively evaluate solutions
